The Rape of Europa

In the range of his mythological interpretations, Ivan Minekov brings a rather poetic vision of Europa riding a bull. The coarse body of the animal contrasts the very elegant, shiny figure of Europa, whose gesture gives off both despair and yearning. A melancholic female is juxtaposed to the crude male principle in one of the universal stories of escape, transformation, and growth.
